My team is a 100% travel team so a lot of the work I do managing this team is in regards to travel, expense reports, and working on client sites away from Kansas City. I also act as the Learning Partner for our team and provide all of the training/onboarding for our new associates, coordinate training for ongoing education for the rest of the team and ensure they are compliant on all Corporate Required Training. When I joined the team, one of the first projects I took on was reorganizing and updating our onboarding process for new associates. My goal was to create a “one-stop-shop” for new associates as they begin their careers at Cerner. Ultimately, I was able to create a virtual "New Hire Guide" that contains all of the files and links I would normally have sent via email or Teams. Now I am able to share one link and an associate has access to everything they need to be successful in their first few months. It has allowed me to be more effective in how I train new associates as well as ensure that the content and messaging is up-to-date and consistent each time a new coach joins our team. By moving everything to the cloud via SharePoint our associates can now access the content from their phones, so while they are on the road or in the airport they can stay connected and engaged on what is happening and can see the latest learning updates.

I act as the end-user proxy to my engineering team where I communicate the ask from the end user or strategist to my engineering teams.

In my role, I help break down the high-level capability into smaller features and define what needs to be implemented as part of each feature. Once the product or the workflow has been implemented, I ensure that we developed all the features that were requested and demo it to all the stakeholders. When the client asks for a feature, things are still at a very high level. It is important break this down in clear requirements so that the developers understand their expectation from the task. I act as a liaison between the healthcare professionals and engineering community and represent the voice of client throughout the lifecycle of the product. My team had a mission to reduce scheduled downtimes at client sites. By implementing our enterprise system management solution, we were able to ensure patches were taken in the same month they are released. By keeping systems current on patching, we eliminated extended downtimes and reduced the number of unanticipated extended downtimes. Our ESM solution has had a marked impact on patch compliance at our client sites. We have been able to improve compliance on systems we manage at many of our client sites now.

These clients looked to Cerner for the answer regarding how to technically achieve this and identify the model from an operational perspective. Our Ambulatory leaders worked together to develop the CommunityLink model, which is now Cerner's domain extension model for clients to extend their domain to clinics and hospitals. The CommunityLink model provides a way for our clients to create clinical integration and has accomplished many goals. This allowed them to stay current in Cerner's Millennium® software with less work, learn about new features and enhancements and adopt new solutions and roll them out at a faster pace.
