Cerner's User Experience (UX) organization is looking for a Lead Human Factors Researcher to join the Human Factors (HF) team. We’ve grown one of the largest UX teams in our industry with associates located worldwide who are focused on the specific goal of reshaping our applications to enhance the end user experience and address patient safety. Human Factors Researchers have the unique opportunity to collaborate with clinicians, developers, project team members, and other UX associates to identify and solve complex health care problems.

Lead Human Factors Researchers evaluate research necessity and prioritize efforts using expertise across regulatory, industry, academic or healthcare practices to evaluate emergent healthcare design and development questions. Lead researchers assess operational, usability and safety gaps across multiple products and create strategic research plans to address emerging patterns of systemic usability and safety concerns.

You will establish and collaborate with inter-organizational and interdisciplinary networks to translate and adapt industry ideas into solutions for complex health care problems. You are responsible for establishing research objectives that address product and project objectives, defining participant recruitment requirements, and for helping to ensure the user is at the heart of user-centered design at Cerner. Therefore, you are expected to use your knowledge and understanding of the vision of Cerner products to effectively communicate research findings and suggested improvements to product teams and other stakeholders in a manner that supports decision making and compels action.

Working Environment

This position offers a Hybrid & Onsite working environment. Meaning you will split working time between a Cerner office or client site and remote. If your current geographical location requires relocating, Cerner will not offer relocation assistance to the specified location. #LI-Hybrid

Basic qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering, Informatics or Information Science or 4 years relevant work experience
  • Plus 6 years completed higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job including:
    • 3 years of user experience design work experience
Preferred qualifications:
  • PhD or Master’s degree in Psychology, Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering, Informatics or Information Science
  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed
  • This position is based in London, and offers hybrid working environment
