Qualitative Research Scientist

Job Description

Cerner Enviza is seeking a Qualitative Research Scientist who is a collaborative researcher who has expertise in evaluating and reporting on qualitative data. The Qualitative Research Scientist brings a passion for the patient voice to the health care industry, supporting and often leading research design, interview moderation, analysis and reporting for Cerner Enviza clients.

The Qualitative Research Scientist will work with a principal investigator on real world studies in health outcomes, be responsible for details of implementing qualitative studies with patients, caregivers, treating physicians and/or payors, including evaluating the data and writing reports summarizing the data.

This position reports to a Business Leader in the Cerner Enviza Real World Research Team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working in a matrixed organization on project-based teams, communicate and interact effectively, with all key stakeholders (internally and externally) via conference calls and/or in-person meetings
  • Manage and implement qualitative studies, including discussion guide development and assistance with the protocol
  • Moderate interviews with health care providers and patients, often addressing sensitive healthcare topics
  • Code qualitative data using NVivo or MaxQDA and/or manage coders as applicable
  • Conduct and analyze cognitive interviews
  • Partner and manage other moderators and research findings
  • Write research reports of qualitative results in Word and/or PowerPoint as applicable
  • Keep the project team informed on all relevant aspects of the study to complete the work within the expected timeframe and with the scientific rigor required
  • Assist in the preparation of peer reviewed publications for placement in journals and presentations at industry conferences
  • Contribute to thought leadership within the organization on these topics, joining internal qualitative initiatives for example in behavioral sciences, publishing standards and the continuous improvement of qualitative operating procedures
  • Expected to deliver tasks as requested by the project director/lead researcher

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
At least 6 years Total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:
  • At least 1 year licensed health care practice, clinical research, epidemiology and/or biostatistics work experience
  • At least 5 years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education

Desired Qualifications:
  • Basic working knowledge of preference elicitation methods, including the design and implementation of qualitative interviews, qualitative data analysis, surveys and statistical analysis of responses
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Psychology, or related Social or Behavioral Sciences discipline desired
  • Strong analysis and writing ability
  • Able to manage and deliver a large number of projects at one time
  • Experience with Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) measure development, as well as coding using qualitative data analysis software such as NVivo, MaxQDA, or ATLAS (or other qualitative data analysis software), would be beneficial for this position
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and ISPOR guidelines is desirable
  • This job is expected to work according to ISO 20252 standards
