Epidemiologist, Oncology & Specialty Therapeutics

Job Description

The Epidemiologist, Oncology & Specialty Therapeutics role is a junior epidemiology position within the Oncology & Specialty Therapeutics (OST) team. The epidemiologist IB is responsible to contributing to the Patient Metrics epidemiology module of the syndicated CancerMPact (CMP) oncology database with primary and secondary research, model updates, documentation, analysis, and production. The epidemiologist will also participate and support a variety of custom epidemiology analyses in oncology (e.g. custom epidemiology studies, disease/tumor/market landscape assessments). They will respond to client questions and actively support custom proposal development and scoping. The position reports to the Product Lead, Epidemiology and while has no direct reports the epidemiologist will work closely with the epidemiology team.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work under direction of senior members of the Oncology Epidemiology Group.
  • Update and maintain the data tables and all supporting information into the database that is the foundation for Cerner Enviza’s CancerMPact
  • Develop quantitative epidemiological models from published and/or registry data, resulting in an estimation of potential patient populations within specific indications / diseases.
  • Assess impact of future clinical, environmental or market changes on patient populations.
  • Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text.
  • Devise and evaluate methods and procedures for collection and analysis of epidemiology research.
  • Attend appropriate medical and industry conferences to provide epidemiology staff and clients with information and data on the latest epidemiology techniques.
  • Be an active, willing and cooperative partner with other members of the project teams.
  • Support custom project business development discussions and participate in creation of custom proposals
  • Assist clients and colleagues in understanding the market implications of patient population estimates.
  • Assist and interface with clients and other Cerner Enviza personnel, especially in presenting the results of the epidemiological analysis.
  • Assist to provide clear and effective on-going communications to clients and Cerner Enviza personnel.
  • Provide ongoing input to improve the epidemiology consulting service.
  • Assist with proactive pursuit of additional epidemiology related project work and other business development activities.

This position offers a Remote working environment. Meaning you can live and work in your current geographical location and work primarily remote. There could be times you will be requested to travel and/or visit a Cerner office or client site. #Remote

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
At least 4 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:
  • MPH (Master of Public Health) or Doctorate in Epidemiology or MD (MBBS, MB BChir, MB ChB, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
To succeed, you will need:
  • Advanced degree in epidemiology field of study (preferably MPH).
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis software tools (e.g. SAS, SPSS or STATA).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint a must.
  • Experience with quantitative epidemiological and scientific analysis.
  • Strong research background with experience conducting literature reviews.
  • Medical or Pharmacy background & prior pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
