Senior Upstream Product Marketer

We are leading the industry in using big data intelligence to enable the shift from reactive care to proactive population level health management and are looking for a driven Senior Upstream Marketer to join the International Upstream Marketing team.
The International Product Lifecycle Management team ensures that client and wider market needs are captured and given the appropriate prioritization in product development. As an Upstream marketer, you will be responsible to capture and validate market needs and feed into the product development to ensure that Cerner can be successful in the Canadian market by having a competitive product portfolio that meets the needs of the market, now and in the future.

As a Senior Upstream Marketer for Canada, you will serve as the key contributor to the solution portfolio development by

  • Serve as the primary owner of market strategy for medium sized or complex product(s).

  • Assessing market feedback and technical feasibility to prepare product recommendations for the Product Managers and Product Owners.

  • Performing market sensing and contribute market insights to opportunity assessment and business case processes.

  • Partnering with product management, development and corporate marketing to ensure that client needs are incorporated into product development process and downstream marketing approaches.

  • Collaborating with program, contract and client organization counterparts to recommend prioritization of strategic-level requirements on aligned product roadmaps.

  • Monitor and consult on the development of go-to-market activities.

  • Support assessment of market penetration and product positioning in relationship to competitive advantage, revenue and market share.

  • Consult and inform pricing and packaging strategy for new solutions to be offered in Canada.

  • Actively contribute towards identification and evaluation of partners closely working with the Partner development manager.

  • Working with clients, downstream marketing and client organization counter-parts to develop value proof points.

Working Environment

Hybrid or Remote

This position offers a Hybrid or Remote working environment. Meaning if you live within a metro area of a Cerner office, you will split working time between a Cerner office and remote. If you are not within a metro area of a Cerner office, you can live and work in your current geographical location and work primarily remote. #LI-Hybrid #Remote

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 8 years total combined higher education and related work experience, including:

    • At least 2 years product marketing, product management, healthcare information technology (HCIT) consulting and/or other marketing or HCIT solution work experience

    • At least 6 years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Health Care, Marketing or related field.

  • Experience working with Millennium implementations.


  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours to cover global team meetings (Europe, Middle East and Australia) as needed and allowed by local regulations

  • Fluent in English

  • Willing to travel up to 20% or as needed

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
