Job Description

In this role as a Mainframe Senior System Architect, we are looking for a professional who can determine systems architectural design as well as lead building activities and handle technical support escalations as needed. You will be responsible for managing projects and support queues for solutions and services. You will get the opportunity to consult with other teams for incident solutions which will enable you to be more proactive when needed to analyze, troubleshoot, and improve system performance issues. This associate will also work closely with other System Engineers and support teams to mentor them through diagnosing and troubleshooting technical problems to support the business.

This position offers a Hybrid or Remote working environment. Meaning if you live within a metro area of a Cerner office, you will split working time between a Cerner office and remote. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years total combined completed higher education and related work experience, including:
    • At least 2 years of system engineering and/or system architecture work experience
    • At least 6 years completed higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the job
      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field
  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong Mainframe Systems Programming background in z/OS, SMP/E, JES2.
  • Primary responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, and support of the mainframe systems along with 3rd party product updates.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to quickly learn and use new skills and concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of large IBM systems hardware architecture, HCD/IODF, 3rd party products, BAL, and PC skills are a plus.


Expectations:
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Ability to participate in off-hour client incidents or escalations
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
