Job Description

Cerner is elated to hire a Software Engineer III. As a Software Engineer III, you will analyze, design, code, debug, test and modify new software or enhancements while considering software abilities. In this role you will, create strategic technical designs for small scope projects within team and provide high-level architecture guidance and develop specifications to resolve software problems. Your responsibilities also include consulting with stakeholders on current functionality and complexity of adding features along with estimating effort for current and future projects of small to medium scope. As a Software Engineer III you will, debug complicated issues that span multiple modules, involve complex concurrency or low-level problems. As a part of this role, you are also required to propose and lead process improvements projects for development, deployment or application monitoring. Additionally, you will share knowledge within the team through mentorship, coaching, technical talks and blogs.

This position offers a Hybrid or Remote working environment. Meaning if you live within a metro area of a Cerner office, you will split working time between a Cerner office and remote. If you are not within a metro area of a Cerner office, you can live and work in your current geographical location and work primarily remote. #LI-Hybrid #Remote

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years total combined completed higher education and related work experience, including:
    • At least 1 year of software engineering work experience
    • At least 5 years completed higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the job, including:
      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience proven mentor abilities
  • At least 1 year of experience in design patterns
  • At least 1 year of experience with SQL programming
  • Java and/or C++ experience
  • Experience with streaming technologies
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Redis
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
