Lead Consultant - Head of Consumer

Are you passionate about using technology to help place the patient (the consumer) at the centre of their care, transforming the way that patients and care providers interact and make decisions? Do you have proven healthcare IT experience in the consumer space, and are you looking to play a key leadership role in the strategic direction of market-leading consumer products and services?

Cerner’s Patient Portal technology, (known as HealtheLife and the Consumer Framework), enables collaboration between the patient and the providers of their care. It provides the patient with access to key information about their care, and it’s a collaborative platform that enables communication and the exchange of information between the patient and care providers to support decision-making.

We’re looking for an exceptional person to lead Cerner’s work in the Consumer space. This means leading on our product and services strategies, as well as providing leadership of our delivery team and operations. As health and care services are enhanced and integrated, with a greater focus on preventative and pro-active care to maximise health and wellbeing outcomes, the patient (consumer) is increasingly playing a greater role in their care. Consumer engagement is therefore at the centre of Cerner’s work with clients, so it’s important that we get it right.

As the Head of Consumer, you will lead Cerner’s work in the consumer space, and will focus on identifying the optimal approach for delivering our consumer products and services to clients, covering the whole project life cycle from initial scoping through to and client value realisation. You will also focus on steering our consumer product developments and our partnership strategies, take ownership of our overall consumer strategy for the UK, and assisting strategically across other international geographies.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain exposure to and experience in leadership development, organizational design and strategy, innovation in consumer engagement, leadership in the future design of consumer digital tools and services, work across a variety of care settings - NHS providers, social care, primary care, etc., engagement with health and care organisations at provider, regional and national levels, thought leadership in digital consumer strategy, UK, European and International health and care systems, as part of an international team.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years relevant work experience plus;
  • 6 years additional experience or higher education, including;
    • 3 years in healthcare information technology (HCIT) consulting, HCIT support, and/or other client-facing or HCIT solution work experience
Preferred experience:
  • Experience in the consumer engagement space, designing and delivering products that empower patients/consumers to better connect with their care.
  • Input into the strategic direction of consumer products and/or services, using market knowledge to steer the strategy/approach.
  • Leadership of teams/individuals from a management or coaching perspective.
Expectations:
  • Willing to work overtime or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Ability to travel up to 80%
