CernerWorks is one of the fast-growing segments of Cerner's business. CernerWorks' primary function is to host, manage, and monitor client systems. CernerWorks offers a remote hosting option (RHO) that provides superior performance, security, reliability, and scalability with a lower upfront financial commitment from the client by combining hardware, networking technologies, and technical expertise. It allows healthcare organizations to leverage the most sophisticated and powerful IT solutions available today from our state-of-the-art data centers.
As a System Engineer II in CernerWorks, you are responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly activities required to deliver multiple project tasks on-time while following all process and procedures’, escalating issues as necessary, and creating or updating all necessary documentation. In addition, you will be responsible for installations for all environments of Cerner Solutions, implement and monitoring for applications and servers. Responding to alarms in a timely manner, preventing client impact and performance degradation.

Additionally, you will be responsible for deploying physical and virtual servers, setup, and maintain testing environments and ensuring that these technologies stay current. In this role, you will also support per service request, complete assigned incident management tasks, perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware or OS upgrades, and resource optimization. There will also be the opportunity to work with multiple Cerner teams during the project lifecycle of a Millennium code upgrade and technology stack upgrades such as Windows OS.

You have an understanding of System Administration with Windows systems and troubleshooting skills, a good understanding of relational databases (Oracle) as well as basic core technologies, such as, Citrix, IBM Websphere, Microsoft technologies (Windows), and network concepts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, or 4 years relevant work experience
  • Plus 2 years higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job including:
    • including 1 year of system administration and/or system engineering work experience
  • Windows OS Administration and Support experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some relational database knowledge
  • Exposure to the Agile Methodology
  • Experience with implementing and supporting highly technical solutions
  • Highly developed troubleshooting capabilities


  • Able to travel up to 20% or more as needed
  • Able to be on-call as well as work additional or irregular hours as needed
  • Willing to work on different technologies as needed
  • The position is based in our London office
