Director, Principal Federal Program Manager

Job Description

Cerner's Government Services leadership team has an opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to support information technology projects for our clients. The Director & Principal Federal Program Manager will be responsible for all program activities while delivering to scope, schedule, and budget objectives. You will plan and direct work of individuals, teams and managers. You will also optimize program finances according to organizational objectives while continuously looking for ways to improve finances across areas of responsibility. You will act as the client's trusted adviser, deliver program reviews to senior leadership and conduct program reviews on identified programs as needed. You will define, implement and use program metrics for scope, schedule, cost, quality and general decision along with helping to define staffing needs across the organization.
The successful candidate for this job will have diverse IT program experience, must be well-versed in full systems development life cycle methodologies, strategic information planning, business process re-engineering, and management practices. You will have experience managing a large team, creating plans, mitigating risk and managing a P&L. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills along with the demonstrated ability in team building, coaching and mentoring. Experience using program management tools such as JIRA, MS Project, SharePoint, as well as building and using analytical models (e.g., capacity planning, trending, etc.) in Excel or other tools is preferred.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 10 years of Project/program management, sales, consulting or client relationship management work experience Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position
  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of Health care information technology (HCIT) or federal government project/program management work experience
  • At least 5 years of people management, matrix or project management or indirect leadership work experience
  • Previous Federal Contracting experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Previous Federal Contracting experience
  • Experience with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs
  • Experience managing 3rd party vendors
Expectations:
  • Must be willing to reside or live in Arlington, VA or live in a virtually approved city
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%
