Senior Director & Application Leader at Children's National

Job Description

We are excited to present an opportunity for an experienced IT leader to join our executive team in support of the Bear Institute at Children’s National. Supporting a growing organization with a robust IT roadmap, as Sr. Director & Application Leader you will lead clinical, business, revenue cycle, population health, interoperability and analytics application groups within Children’s National that support the organization’s enterprise applications. You will work closely with client executives to contribute to the vision, strategy, planning, evaluation, design, development, and implementation of applications across Children’s National that support the organization’s mission and vision as well as participate in the completion of annual financial planning, operational, and capital budgeting. You will guide client decisions through active engagement in governance processes to drive Children’s National larger business and clinical goals with effective use of technology.

As one of Cerner’s two institute clients, at the Bear Institute you will have the opportunity and responsibility to work to bring Cerner’s latest innovations to Children’s National and also serve as a thought leader to help Cerner advance pediatric health IT capabilities in our solutions.

You will also provide leadership to your teams supporting the maintenance and configuration of existing applications to ensure they meet our client’s objectives while also contributing to the development of the overall solution roadmap. You will be responsible for managing delivery of IT services from across Cerner in support of Children’s National. You and your leadership team will identify cross-functional impacts of IT changes and identify areas of potential risk management. This includes analyzing data, identifying business gaps, and recommending resolutions while contributing to process improvements and innovative strategies that support both Cerner and Children’s National vision and objectives.

You will drive user satisfaction strategies of applications supported by the Bear Institute. You will lead efforts to foster increased applications standardization, reliability, and centralization across the suite of applications.

Finally, you will also be responsible for mentoring associates, growing leaders within your organization and contributing to process improvements and innovative IT strategies that are deployed in the organization.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • At least 11 years of application support, maintenance and configuration work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing, supporting, or administering Cerner Millennium applications
  • Master’s Degree in information systems, healthcare administration, or related field
  • At least 5 years of Health care information technology (HCIT) solution strategy, consulting and/or support work experience
  • At least 5 years managing teams and technology portfolios within HCIT environment
  • ITIL Foundation level or further ITIL certifications
  • At least 7 years people management experience
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area
  • Experience leading large, diverse teams of at least 50 or more individuals
  • Strong understanding of help desk, application support, and customer services principles
  • Experience owning executive level relationships
  • Participation in rotating executive IT escalation responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding and experience in modern healthcare delivery including clinical, revenue cycle, and ancillary workflows
  • Experience meeting service level agreements while supporting healthcare information technology
