Cerner is looking for a Senior Communications Partner to join our Cerner Government Services (CGS) team. CGS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cerner Corporation, is transforming how the government delivers health care by bringing the best of its commercial practices, breakthrough innovation, and global experience to serve the unique missions of its federal military and civilian health clients.

As a Senior Communications Partner for Strategic Communications and Engagement in Cerner Government Services (CGS), you will support an expanding team by executing a comprehensive internal communications strategy across various channels. This role will empower you to be creative and innovative in order to leverage new communications trends and platforms that help drive awareness, engagement, and advocacy.

In scope will be to develop executive level and cross-functional messaging that drives awareness of the CGS mission, values, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. You will also manage communications output against an editorial calendar to keep more than 5,000 CGS associates updated on business objectives, federal program milestones, workforce engagement, events, and activities as appropriate. This role will allow you to manage content creation and dissemination of communications including newsletter articles, SharePoint site content, Town Hall material, PowerPoint presentations, video scripts, podcasts, and other internal communications collateral. And finally, you will collaborate with leadership teams and peers to gain an understanding of the federal marketplace, business strategy, and health care sector to create content for assigned initiatives.

About Sales, Marketing & Strategy


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration or Communications or related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 to 5 years of business writing or business communications work experience
  • Strong writing, presentation, and communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Project management skills and editorial calendar management experience
  • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position
  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for either a consulting firm, government agency, or creative agency
  • Successfully manage cross-functional relationships across various teams
  • Ability to manage and produce content in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively drive awareness, engagement, and satisfaction with CGS content
  • Strong copy-editing skills (AP Style)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience in government communications
  • Experience or interest in multimedia audio/video production
  • Healthcare or IT communications experience is a plus
  • Experience using Wrike, a project management tool
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Project management skills and editorial calendar management


  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the DC Metro area
  • Must complete a writing sample as part of the interview process

Due to specific client contract requirements, this position requires that the successful candidate be a U.S. citizen. The client contract also requires receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for the position.
