Job Description

As a Project Manager for Strategic Engagement and Communications in Cerner Government Services (CGS), you will support an expanding team of seasoned communications and marketing professionals focused on promoting the success of our federal clients, advancing our executive policy initiatives such as combatting suicide and opioid abuse, and deepening and expanding the Cerner brand in the beltway. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Engagement and Communications, you will facilitate project implementation, overcome project barriers, obtain requirements, establish and report on metrics and KPI, evaluate and determine objectives, goals, and scope of multiple communications and public engagement projects. You will network within an organization to drive initiatives, strategies, issue resolutions, and alignment as well as create, monitor and provide ongoing communication to appropriate stakeholders. This role will support the team by increasing capabilities to organize, manage, and make informed decisions through data driven reports and strategic planning. In scope will be to manage interdependencies or dependencies between projects or programs through collaboration, cross-functional project planning and comprehensive reporting packages and develop detailed project plans and manage project process documentation.

About Client Services


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Care, Communications or Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of project management work experience supporting communications or marketing programs and executives
  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position
  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) - Project Management Institute (PMI) certification
  • Proficient with project management and content development Salesforce and Wrike and other project management tools
  • Understanding of social media analytics
  • Experience in supporting communications projects with the federal government
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint


  • Willing to travel up to 25% as needed
  • Must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the District of Columbia area

Additional Information

Due to specific client contract requirements, this position requires that the successful candidate be a U.S. citizen. The client contract also requires receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for the position.
