We are excited to share with you opportunities that have emerged for market segment strategy executive(s) to play a new and critical function within Cerner’s client focused organization. As a market segment strategist you will assess our product and services portfolio against the needs of the segment today to be an integral voice to define and/or validate strategic growth opportunities for tomorrow. The key market segments include Government, large healthcare aggregators i.e. Integrated Health Systems, Ambulatory, Pediatrics and Academic.

In this capacity you will be highly in tune with the needs and trends of the segment, understanding the full client journey with Cerner including executive touchpoints, interactions, opportunities and risks. In order to provide value, you will not only need an active understanding of the solutions needed but also all aspects of bringing people, processes, and tools to life for the purpose of solving the business and clinical needs of the segment.

We will look to you to define the Cerner standard for user/patient/client experience priorities, community partner strategies i.e. clinically integrated networks, applicable needs for divesture, mergers, and acquisitions, pricing and packaging, deployment standards, assessments and models for capability adoption, technical or privacy needs.

A focus of your role will be to provide clarity on where to steer resources internally and investments for greatest provider market return. In addition to driving how to support alignment of work across products, services and delivery to achieve the key vision, objectives and strategies of the segment; from design to delivery of the products and services to adoption models, shared services and communities. Ultimately you will assess the effectiveness of solutions, services offerings, business models and outreach strategies across market segments and develop more data-driven approaches to strategic planning, experience management and improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related field or equivalent relevant experience

  • 15+ years of health care technology experience

  • Executive experience in multiple domains i.e. Solution/Product Strategy, Business Development, Consulting or Engineering

  • Executive experience in one of the following segments: Government, large healthcare aggregators i.e. Integrated Health Systems, Ambulatory, Pediatrics or Academic


  • Ability to travel up to 80%

  • Ability to relocate to the Kansas City metro area or reside in a Cerner virtually approved city

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position

Additional Information
