Job Description

As a senior software engineer within the Cerner eLearning practice, you will develop and implement enhancements to solutions dedicated to facilitating learning and training of client end users and project teams. These solutions help clients build the awareness, skills and knowledge necessary to be successful using Cerner’s EHR.

You will collaborate closely with engineers, solution designers and visual designers during the development process. You drive the technology that brings the design to life and explore new methods and languages to discover the best fit. You work with code and data. You will deliver high-quality solutions that will have a major impact on the medical community. Responsibilities also include defining user needs, providing input on functional design, testing, and troubleshooting. Projects can range from functionality enhancements for one user to broad solutions that transform and optimize the operations of an entire department.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Software Engineer, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • At least 5 years software development experience
  • At least 3 years experience developing and debugging in Java
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and architecting web applications using Java, JavaScript
  • Integration experience with HTTP/S, SOAP, XML, REST
  • Experience developing and architecting web applications and database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL etc.)
  • Experience with the lean agile development methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime and irregular hours when needed
  • Ability to learn and apply new technical skills and concepts quickly
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Ruby, React is nice to have
Expectations:
  • Must be residing in or willing to relocate to the Kansas City, MO area
  • Ability to travel 10-20% as needed
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within a team environment
  • Eager to learn and apply new technical skills and concepts in efficient manner
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Perform all additional other duties and responsibilities assigned

Additional Information
