Job Description

Do you want to define and document vision, functional requirements, and risk analysis using solution management tools and processes? If so, come join Cerner as a Solution Designer for the Tiger Institute for Health Innovation. You will work with the development teams to design solutions based upon investigation and written requirements. The Solution Designer uses methodology tools that follow the software delivery life cycle (SDLC) for best practice standards, to catalog and trace requirements, and create visual design mock-ups.

Additionally, the Solution Designer works with clients as a partner in development of applications and verifies that the solution meets functional requirements and approves the solution for release. You will also support and communicate solution and functional status to stakeholders, including sales, consulting and clients. The Solution Designer verifies the solution meets functional requirements and approves the solution for release.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Health Care or related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of testing, development or solution-related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in custom web application design and development
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with Agile Project Management tools JIRA, VersionOne, or CA Agile Central (Rally)
  • Experience with wire framing and/or process mapping tools
  • Excellent computer skills, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience designing new or enhancing existing solutions, driving requirements through the development process, and approving solutions for release, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic- to intermediate-level knowledge of and skills with various analytical tools (i.e., Excel, SQL databases, etc.)
  • Experience writing use cases to support the functional requirements and design elements


  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Additional Information
